Boxing girl Zhang Meili was in a gym when she saw a fitness kickboxercise instructor. She goes up to him to ask to spar. Here's what happens. Hope you like my translation and analysis. Also, I forgot to mention this in the video, but his rate (39,800 RMB per year) converts to about 5554 dollars per year. What do you think about this boxing sparring? What do you think about how much he charges? Let's talk more about martial arts instruction, sparring, etc. in the comment section. To find this video on YouTube, check out Meili's channel (I have yet to figure out if it's official or not): /watch/YtZM57NOzWsOM Subscribe for more #martialarts #fightcommentary Timecodes: 0:00 Setup 0:35 Meili vs fitness boxing instructor 2:47 After sparring reactions 3:23 Analysis/thoughts

@FightCommentary10 months ago Ive never found these videos on Chinese social media, so I don’t know if these uploads are extra stuff from Meili’s time doing these challenges or are they new videos. She and her coach did have a falling out last time i checked, but i don’t know what happened since. I’ll keep you posted if i find anything more about where Meili is! ... 10

@farkinarkin509910 months ago He figured out that Zhang Meili was not a rookie from her evasion. He didn't do that badly, but was ending up a bit flat-footed when he steps back. Yes, no angling off. Not qualified to be training real fighters, but for fitness? Fine. ... 56

@ToddLawrence2310 months ago For this kind of video I want to believe that it's staged and maybe the only real part is the sparring, the ending it's just too comical. 87
  • @
@Ultradude60410 months ago I don't speak mandarin but something's funny here. I feel that the sparring seems real. But the setup is a setup. As in the situation was arranged. They are doing some comedy skit. 7

@brotherlogicrmf219910 months ago At one minute and twenty seconds in. The kickboxing instructor almost knocked her ass out. But like you said he's pulling his punches 🤷 24

@WilliamStormXBlade886 months ago I had a coach like this in my gym, but he made it very clear from the start that our kick-boxing was for fitness only and NOT for sparring. 2
  • @
@crabluva10 months ago His training is fine for fitness and he's a good boxer. A lot of clients don't want to learn how to fight and just want to have fun while getting cardio.
    Staged af but stitch failed.

@theblackswordsman517110 months ago I think he was taking it easy. He's got good punches and doesn't look like a fish out of water like a kung fu master. Imagine if any of us had a women's self defense course or fitness boxing clas and a video went viral of you knocking out a woman! What his customer base going to think? This guy has a business and a right to provide for his family. ... 31

@6whatnext10 months ago She was throwing home runs at his head and I think he didn’t want to hurt her , a few body shots would have taken the wind out of her sails 13

@jamellee50410 months ago If you do start training with girls for fun with your buddy, will you host it on one of your channels Jerry? 4
  • @
@yotornadoyo10 months ago This looks very staged lol, but still he wasn't bad and he could probably have beaten her if they actually went hard. 53
  • @
@danielcox762910 months ago They cut out the part where she pays him 20 bucks to play along and be in her video. one of the big things is you can't "win" a sparing match, or at least it's not the same win conditions as a fight. 7
  • @
@DomFortress10 months ago Having "fun" by not coaching a fight skill seriously has consequences, especially when reality doesn't just "spar", footwork doesn't just "trip", and situational awareness doesn't "flirt". ... 4
  • @
@tomwalker89449 months ago He's "sparring" she's trying to win a fight. There is a difference. What do you want him to do? Knock her out? 2
  • @
@ta1henman59910 months ago To be fair, he is a kickboxer and not a boxer. You could see that his hands are down and backing off his main defense because usually when you back off, a back leg kick might be in the works. 3
  • @
@YouCallThataKnife25310 months ago Honestly, to me it kind of seemed as if he was trying to avoid hurting her. Perhaps she could have beaten him straight up, but it did appear to me that she was sparring much harder than what he was comfortable with 3
  • @
@HKBoba10 months ago Did she say she didnt train? I thought she approached with saying that she wants to see if her coach is any good.
  • @
@palnagok172010 months ago If he whacks her good , he becomes the villain. She throws wild punches. It would be easy to plant one on her jaw. 9

@donihersono747410 months ago That guy is not an amateur afterall, he knows some basic for sure 4
  • @
@JoseLopez-to2mr10 months ago I like to say this is staged, but the look at the kickboxer instructor was like he's embarrassed. At first he was going light on boxing girl, but he was surprised that he got hit by a few times. I must say boxing girl got some insane head movements there. Stage or not it was a good video 👍 ... 3

@PazCristo10 months ago Really hope to see Jerry interviewing Meili
  • @
@YourManifoldWorld9 months ago The thing with training complete newbies from the street like that young girl, sometimes you can't just go straight to teaching her proper foot work and hip movements because these newbies just can't receive that level of instruction yet.
So, I can see the trainer just letting her hit the pads the way she wanted to and later he can adjust when she's spent more time committing to it.
I have seen a lot of girls and boys come into my Muay Thai gym here in Thailand and their form is completely off etc. But the trainer doesn't immediately tell her "do this, do that" because that doesn't allow "play" and it's discouraging to the newbie.

@Erhuero10 months ago That’s cold 🥶,they told her to join them.
  • @
@cpakken10 months ago When sparring, they should agree to how hard they go, 30%, 50%, especially if it's a new partner. Otherwise it'll just escalate to going all out. This guy was SWINGING by the end. 2
  • @
@WadeSmith-oe5xd4 months ago Yeah, I agree the guy doesn't understand angles, especially when evading. He only seems to understand straight forward or straight backward, which is usually the wrong thing to do in any combat sport.
  • @
@Alvin-xs7db10 months ago Something tells me that last bit was staged lol 4
  • @
@PNOYPWR10 months ago On the last part, the guy just saw how serious the girl is fighting that he just terminated the challenge. Who, in their right mind wants to KO a girl on camera? 1
  • @
@longhairedphreak10 months ago You did well covering arguments from both sides. Did she show him up? Definitely. My question is what's her point? If she was looking to show off her skills, why didn't she pick a trained fighter to go against instead of challenging someone who she knew she would beat...? ...
  • @
@peterjol9 months ago trouble is a trainer doesn't have to be able to beat everyone they train... he was expecting a novice.

@neferkamunashanti470010 months ago She did really Well, the instructor was on the back foot. I like the way she challenged him with sloppy pad work. Hats off to that girl.
But why he push her out of the gym
  • @
@josueclarke576510 months ago No dingle berry he’s studying her moves
  • @
@richardhenry196910 months ago I don’t think he was untrained. I also believe he was pulling punches. No guy would hit a girl like they would a guy. I think she uses being a girl to make fun of people. What would have happened if he landed a few stunners. I’m all for exposing fake martial artist but a trainer has to start some were. The pad looked off but a lot of pad work looks wrong in the beginning. Especially when training someone that’s never punched anything. I was taught first built the person then add the skill. Many people enter martial arts because they don’t wanna be scared. They need self esteem. Just my experiences. In the 25+ years in the gym. ... 3

@hard2hurt10 months ago Lol Jerry why are you pretending this is real hahaha
  • @
@dojanglesclimb10 months ago This was fake. All a skit I think to advertise the boxing lady. 2
  • @
@michaelcook229010 months ago If we judge purely on what we saw then this was really even. I think the guy's face was really open at the end of exchanges, it seems really obvious. Yet boxing girl pressured but not to the ending. His punches looked strong to make her wary but still she's gone harder before. I can't watch with sound on so see comments saying the ending makes it staged, I think there is truth in that because I think boxing girl has gone harder in the past plus his hands drop and I'm surprised she didn't go for it. Really, they both threw a lot of punches without much connecting. ...

@lewisruffalo222110 months ago "I don't think he did that bad..." He did bad for his business though. That's why he got so angry at the end. Who wants to pay for kickboxing lessons from a man that just got beaten by a woman regardless of what her goals are? ... 1
  • @
@YogiBSwagga10 months ago He looks like he doesn't want to knock her out. It's sparring. They also have no gear
  • @
@bobleonheart960010 months ago Guys charging nearly £5k a year. 1/6th of your yearly wages (in the UK at least). That's a lot of cheddar man for janky pad play. I mean lets not forget the elements presented here.
1 - demonstration of general training technique (fitness or otherwise)
2 - him stating his price for what was seen
    3 -demonstration of the results
That's what is and should be running through his head knowing everything that was filmed. Ultimately he just took part in an ad for someone elses gym. Not surprised he was kinda pissed.

@TheDTInstructor9 months ago I gotta say, he did really well. I can tell he's also holding back. You can see it in his face. The guy had no idea what was happening.
I don't have respect for these people walking in and challenging like this. You're potentially ruinng careers. I don't agree with it. Full transparency is what's needed. If he was told everyone up front, he may have done it, he may not have. Still the right thing to do. ...

@slashd10 months ago She was being dishonested and figurely ambushed/suckerpunched him with this challenge while he wasnt mentally prepared. It would be more fair to have a rematch in 3 months and see how well she does then.
Its fine if some Tai Chi guy challenges her and loses because he did his research but here she is challenging/ambushing someone unexpecting what she is capable of

@Brykk10 months ago I would say hes a 5 or 6 of 10. His footwork is garbage. He has some basics, but if he is just trying to keep his workouts interesting, then he is doing fine. If he is just getting a good aerobic workout for his clients, while having some fun in an interesting format, then more power to him. ...

  • @
@steeveepee3310 months ago I'm starting to believe Zhang Meili has some kind of self esteem issues or something, where she feels she needs to go around from location to location and try to embarrass people in public, and potentially mess with people's livelihoods. I know plenty of gyms around the US where females learn boxing/kickboxing strictly in the aspect of fitness, and not as a seriously competitive angle and you dont have serious boxers coming to the class trying to show someone up. Those types would be kicked out immediately. I think Zhang Meili maybe needs some therapy. ...
  • @
@petkoterziev210 months ago The boxing girl just got kicked out of the gym and her boxing couldn't save her hahaha. Also if this guy, it doesn't matter how bad he was, wanted to K.O. her, he could have done so, even in the first exchanges. Also what do you expect from a gym instructor, to teach you how to fight? No, if you want that, go to an MMA camp and that's it. You can get basic, basic, kick-boxing training in the gym environment. You go to lift weights in the gym, not to become the next Mike Tyson, or .... the next boxing girl 🤣🤣
    Boxing girl channel 🤣🤣🤣🤣

@boxing.ascetic10 months ago As soon as he saw he was outclassed, he could have shook her hand and acknowledged it. He's good enough for fitness. @Bendesho10 months ago The first few videos I saw of this woman I was really impressed, but at this point I'm put off by her. First of all it's starting to seem like these videos are staged. Second of all even if they're not, they're dumb because she's usually challenging people who have very little boxing training if any. And this guy is no slouch at boxing, but he's not trying to hit her very hard. As well he shouldn't because she's a woman. Imagine if he did?
Mei Li's schtick is getting tiresome. She should challenge other women who are trained boxers and who spar regularly. THEN I would be impressed again.

He would have taken her head off if she didn't know what she was doing.
