This is a standard high value resistor connected in parallel with the capacitor used to discharge the capacitor in a circuit and main purpose of using a bleeder resistor in any circuit is safety. The discharging of the capacitor is very important because even if we turn off the power source, the charged capacitor can give an electric shock. So it is necessary to add a bleeder resistor to avoid any incident. Let us assume a rectifier diode with a capacitor filter connected to a power supply. Now, there can be no load present in the circuit, and whenever the diode is forward-biased the capacitor gets charged. As a result, the capacitor holds some voltage across it. When the diode is reverse biased, the capacitor discharged by a resistor. If the bleeder resistor is not connected, the voltage will be there across the capacitor terminals. If we turn off the AC power, the capacitor still holds some charge. So, if someone touches the terminals of capacitor, he may get an electric shock. If we can make a discharge path for the capacitor, then We can fix this hazard. #bleederresistor #resistor #resistoracrosscapacitor #tariqlab #electronic #electronics
