@PORRRIDGE_GUN4 years ago A brilliantly filmed death scene. The use of the tin cup clattering to the ground and the child smiling, then suddenly looking very sad, the woman praying louise bryant had a difficult journey into russia in 1920 and was imprisoned in finland for a time. She eventually found her husband john in baku, but within a week he was struck down with typhus. A few days later he died with louise at his side. A very russian tragedy.
reds was made at a time when the studios were broke. Big blockbuster feature films were not being, but more cerebral and artistic projects got an opportunity. Many of the stars did the films for a share of box office receipts instead of appearance fees. This time produced greats like the great waldo pepper, serpico, the sting, klute, taxi driver and cool hand luke. Low budget but high quality acting, script and story. It was the true golden age of modern film-making, and it' s been in decline ever since

@drstranger74309 months ago Say what you want to say, but this should' ve been keaton' s 2nd oscar. This completely deatches her annie hall persona and proved she can do more than comedy. 1
