another inconsistency in the plot is what tyler says to elena this episode. He says that it' s not about how you feel but how you act, yet that contradicts what he was saying in season 3.
tyler in episode 3x06: his first successful hybrid caroline. Don' t you think that' s a tiniest bit
i doubt regular werewolf tyler would say this about the man who murdered jenna and jules, if his feelings were exactly the same.
the writers must have forgotten about that, how part of tyler' s character arc was that he wanted to serve klaus, he was proud of being the first successful hybrid, he wanted to be obedient, and his feelings were actually not exactly the same, which freaked out the other characters at the beginning.
another good example is tyler in episode 3x10 when he says: that' s just mind control. Like hypnosis. And being sired is like faith. You do something because you believe it' s the right
is having faith in something so different from a feeling? Especially if it' s about having faith in something you normally wouldn' t have. Tyler definitely wouldn' t have faith in klaus if his feelings were the same. He would hate him for killing jules.
later that episode elena asks what happens if klaus wants him to rip his own heart out, and tyler insists that klaus wouldn' t do that. Why would tyler believe that someone who has been killing innocents left and right and threatening tyler' s friends, would never make him kill himself? Why did he trust klaus so much? I doubt regular werewolf tyler would be so confident and quick to defend klaus.
some could say that tyler being a vampire with heightened aspects of his personality could have been what changed him. But if at the very beginning he was more cocky around people who tried to control him, like caroline, why wasn' t he more cocky around klaus as well? He was loyal to klaus even when his heightened personality made him a douche to everyone else.
and i' m not saying that the sire bond controlled all of tyler' s feelings, but it definitely messed up with his feelings to a degree. And in elena' s case all range of her feelings matter, because the writers want to prove everything she feels is exactly as it would have been with no sire bond. I think it' s inaccurate the way they used tyler to demonstrate that. The writers should have simply stated that elena' s sire bond is different than tyler' s sire bond, because it comes from her actual love for damon. They didn' t need to compare them like they did, because it creates plot holes and it disregards part of tyler' s storyline in season 3.
in season 3 the sire bond with the hybrids was much more than a simple compulsion. But in season 4 that' s all changed and revoked, so the sire bond could become just compulsion under a different name
this is just my opinion, but other than silas, i hate everything about this season. 5
